St. Agnes Catholic Girls School Visit to Bulange Mengo

On a bright and cheerful day, our students of St. Agnes Catholic Girls School Naggalama were given a memorable experience as they visited Bulange Mengo. The visit was an enlightening opportunity for the girls to learn about the rich history and cultural heritage of Buganda.

The students were warmly welcomed by Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga, who emphasized the importance of understanding historical and traditional leadership. He highlighted that bringing young children to such significant places helps strengthen their connection to their cultural roots and heritage.

In his tweet, Katikkiro Mayiga expressed his joy in interacting with the students, stating, “Abaana abato kikulu nnyo ne bamanya ebyafaayo naddala eby’obukulembeze obw’ennono. Okubaleeta embuga ne balambula, kyongera okubaagazisa Obwakabaka n’okunyweza obuwangwa n’Ennono zaabwe.” This translates to, “It is crucial for young children to learn about history, especially traditional leadership. Bringing them to the palace and allowing them to explore strengthens their love for the Kingdom and reinforces their cultural values and traditions.”

The visit was not only educational but also inspirational. The students left with a deeper appreciation for their heritage and a greater understanding of the importance of preserving their culture.

We commend St. Agnes Catholic Girls School for organizing this enriching trip and hope to see more initiatives that bridge the gap between young learners and their cultural heritage.
